Privacy policy

We take your privacy very seriously. Therefore we have tried to outline our privacy policy concisely below. The privacy policy differs between the free version and the professional version.

The free version

In summary, when you are using the short version, have no expectations of privacy at all. If someone knows the address you are using, they can read your e-mail. This is, in fact, much of the point of the free version of Spamavert.

We log the e-mail addresses you forward e-mail to, and your IP address, so we can prevent abuse. Entries in these logs are deleted after 10 days, so we can prevent someone from using Spamavert to spam other people.

We also store your IP address information for the purpose of tracking visitors. This is done via a third party. We will not purposefully disclose compromising information.

The professional version

We will not disclose your e-mails to anyone when not required to do so under Norwegian law. E-mails that are blocked, will not be stored in the system at all. E-mail that are forwarded will be kept only for a short while after being forwarded, to ensure delivery. E-mails that are readable in the system will be kept until deleted or they expire.

We will temporarily store your IP address when you sign in to the website. We also store your IP address information for the purpose of tracking visitors. This is done via a third party. We will not purposefully disclose compromising information.

The short version

  • When you are using the free version, have no expectations of privacy. Anyone can read your e-mail.
  • When you are using the professional version, we will follow the strict Norwegian laws on privacy. We will not disclose your e-mails or contact information to anyone, unless required to do so by Norwegian law.
